Professor Wolfgang Wüst, Chair of Bavarian and Franconian Regional History, will introduce to early modern history in Erlangen, explaning, among other things, how a group of migrants from France, the huguenots, have shaped the city history.

Understanding the Germans
Kerstin Sommer of FAU’s Welcome Centre will give some tipps on how to successfully deal with the Germans. The Germans are often described by foreigners as punctual, diligent, principled, lacking sense of humour. Is it true? Where does this come from? Is there something like “typical German”?

Thursday, Jun 23, 2016, 6:30 p.m.
The three ‘k’ – What a good wife and woman has to be
Kinder, Küche, Kirche – this very German saying has a certain international publicity. It now is out-of-date and serves us as occasion to tell the story of societal changes within Germany. Dr. Ruth Maloszek will give some insights about the role, women had about 30 years ago and have now and invites to a lively discussion.
