The total outgoing traffic of ftp.fau.de increased from 6.57 PiB in 2022 to 8.51 PiB in 2023, an increase of 30%.

The percentage of IPv6 traffic stagnated at 26% (2.23 PiB), after 26% in 2022, 27% in 2021, 27% in 2020, 25% in 2019, 22% in 2018, 22% in 2017, 14% in 2016 and 11% in 2015.
There are no new entries to the top 10 list at all, they only changed places here and there.
Unfortunately, not all traffic is useful or benign traffic. While we don’t mind useful traffic at all, we’re increasingly noticing abusive patterns – like an IP from the M$ cloud downloading the same directory over and over and over and over again in an apparent endless loop. Things like that occoured occassionally in the past, but we’re now seing this more and more often. They also affect rank 1 in this years top 10, fdroid. While fdroid likely would have taken the crown even without abusive traffic, it would have done so less likely.
