PRIDE Annual Conference – 5th & 6th April 2018, Vienna, Austria

The newly established Association for Professionals in Doctoral EducationPRIDE Network will host its first event, an annual conference on the topic Shaping Doctoral Education – the Role of Professionals at Universities, on the 5th of April until the 6th.

It aims at shedding light on “Higher Education Professionals” in Doctoral Education. Who are these people? What job and qualification profiles do they have? How are they working together with different stakeholders within and outside university? Is a professional identity already arising? On the morning of the 5th, there will furthermore be the opportunity for various discussion groups to get together and work on topics such as Quantitative Indicators for PhD Programmes.

All confirmed speakers are of high interest for the community of Professionals working in doctoral education:

  • Alexander Hasgall, Head of the EUA Council for Doctoral Education
  • Celia Whitchurch, UCL Institute of Education, Professor and Expert on Higher Education. The work of the PRIDE project very much was influenced by her research.
  • Eva Hnatkova, EURODOC Board Member, coordinator of our Working group on Doctoral training
  • Kenneth Wann, Professor of Cell Physiology and former Deputy Dean of the University Graduate College, Cardiff. PRIDE Board Member
  • Ragnar Lie, Norwegian Association of Higher Education Institutions, University of Oslo, EARMA Chair of the the Professional Development and Recognition Committee
