Neue Vortragsreihe am 28.01.2020: „My postdoc abroad – career perspectives for doctoral researchers“
We are very happy to continue our new series of open and informal seminar discussions „My postdoc abroad – career perspectives for doctoral researchers“. We aim to offer you a range of ideas, how to organize a postdoc-stay abroad after achieving your doctoral degree. We will focus on several different aspects during these talks.
Especially doctoral candidates are invited to develop ideas for their own career. After a short input-talk, we would like to create an informal and open atmosphere so that everyone poses any question concerning the academic career.
Next talk on January 28th, 2020 from 6pm – 8pm:
• „My postdoc abroad – dual career and third-party funding“ with Dr. Eunike Piwoni (and PD Dr. Florian Töpfl via video-chat)
• Venue: 91058 Erlangen, Martensstr. 1, RRZE, Room 2.049
• Registration
How to build an academic career AND have a family? Eunike Piwoni and Florian Töpfl are a successful dual career couple in academia. They have extensive experience in the acquisition of third party funding, at both the national and European level (Marie Curie, Emmy Noether, ERC Consolidator Grant, Thyssen, DFG Research Fellowship). In addition, they are parents of two children, ages 3 and 7.
We are happy to give you the opportunity to chat with them. In a very informal way, Eunike (and Florian via video-chat) will share their experiences, hopes and fears of the past 10 years with you to give you an idea of what is possible (and what is not), what it takes to be both a parent and an academic and why they believe that, in their case, third-party funding was crucial to having both – two careers in academia and a family.
