FAU Doctorate Kick-Off event on December 1st: We cordially thank all participants for making the event a success!
On December 1st, 2023, the Graduate Center successfully organized its annual Kick-Off event for new doctoral researchers of all faculties at FAU and members of the FAU interested in doctoral studies at the university.
For the first time after the pandemic lockdowns, the event took place on site at the main hall of the Faculty of Medicine, with more than 100 local and international participants.
Prof. Andreas Hirsch, Vice President People and Chairperson of the Steering Committee of the Graduate Center, warmly welcomed all participants and presented the FAU and its structures.
Prof. Hirsch was followed by the Head of the FAU Early Career Support and Manager of the Graduate Center Dr. Christian Schmitt-Engel, who introduced the structure of doctoral studies at FAU and the supporting structures of the FAU for doctoral researchers.
Afterwards, Timo Eckstein, Speaker of the Doctoral Researchers´Representatives, welcomed the new doctoral researchers to the FAU community and invited them to become active withing the framework of the representation as well as to actively participate in its activities, such as in the various social events for doctoral research that take place on a regular basis.
Last, Dr. Silke Schnurbusch, Project Manager of the FAUnext Career Program and certified coach, described to the participant the various career paths they can follow once they have completed their doctoral studies, both inside and outside the academia.
At the end of the presentations, participants were invited to a reception, where they could talk to representatives of the Welcome Center, the Offices for Research, the Doctoral Researchers´ Representation and the Graduate Center and receive important information.
