Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom: Scholarships for doctoral students

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation supports around 150 doctoral students from all disciplines annually who are working on a convincing and innovative research project and have been admitted to a doctoral programme at a university.

Applications can be submitted twice per year, from 1 – 30 April and from 1 – 31 October.

Based on the submitted application documents, a pre-selection is made based on three equally important criteria (academic performance, strong personality, visible commitment). The most convincing applicants will receive an invitation to the selection conference. If you were successful in the pre-selection stage, you will be invited to a personal interview. You will have a one-on-one interview with the members of the independent selection committee, which consists of people from business, politics, science, and research. These selection conferences take place twice a year, usually in late February and late August.

If your application is successful, you will be invited to the introductory event for newly accepted scholarship holders in Potsdam.

Funding usually begins at the beginning of the following semester.
