Falling Walls fosters discussion on research and innovation and promotes the latest scientific findings among a broad audience from all parts of society. Falling Walls looks forward to honoring the people who are finding solutions to global challenges at the Falling Walls Science Summit 2023.

The Falling Walls Summit takes place annually in Berlin from 7 – 9 November, in commemoration of the peaceful fall of the Berlin Wall. Inspired by this world-changing event on 9 November 1989, the question of every Falling Walls Science Summit is: Which are the next walls to fall in science and society? The Falling Walls Science Summit brings together scientists from around the globe. Some of the most important researchers and thinkers of our time gather in Berlin to discuss breakthroughs with global leaders in science, politics, business, and the media.

To make its next Science Summit a celebration of excellent science, Falling Walls is looking for the most recent and innovative scientific Breakthroughs of the Year.

Invited are leading academic institutions, universities, research organizations, companies, private and public research centers, academies, research funders, foundations, and individuals. Whether a researcher, innovator, or a team of passionate individuals, this is your chance to showcase your groundbreaking work that addresses global challenges. You can nominate outstanding research or apply with your own project in the following nine breakthrough categories (interdisciplinary work is encouraged):

• Social Science & Humanities
• Engineering & Technology
• Art & Science
• Science & Innovation Management
• Emerging Talents (Falling Walls Lab)
• Science Start-ups (Falling Walls Venture)
• Science Engagement (Falling Walls Engage)

 

Nominations and applications can be submitted from 1st March to 1st May, 2023 and they have to be submitted in English. Nominators and applicants need to register on the Falling Walls online platform. You will be asked to fill out some information about yourself, and the project you wish to nominate. Please submit your nomination as early as possible, so the nominee is able to accept the nomination and submit further information about their project before the deadline.
