ASTER: Interreg Alpine Space project on the transition of the textile and plastic equipment industry

Our Regional Development Working Group will explore Alpine Solutions for the Transition of the textile and plastic Equipment industry and the harmonization of interregional 5R strategies: In a consortium of 11 partners from 5 Alpine countries (Austria, France, Germany, Italy and Slovenia), the Interreg Alpine Space Programme project ASTER is one amongst 18 classic projects that were approved by the Alpine Space Programme Committee. It will start in September 2024 and has a duration of 3 years.

The project consists of three work packages. In the first phase, led by FAU, waste prevention and management will be characterized. Our work will combine the perspective of economic geography with innovative mapping approaches.

The aim is to build knowledge and to understand the legal, technical, and political framework of textile and plastic waste prevention and management in the Alps from a geographical perspective. The activities in the first phase form a knowledge basis that will be tested through pilot actions and then be transferred to the textile ecosystem in multiple ways.

The project is part of the 2021 to 2027 period of the Interreg Alpine Space Programme, which is co-funded by the European Union.
