This year marks the fifth anniversary of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) endorsed in 2011 by the European Council. The Danube strategy is one of four macro-regional strategies in Europe, including also the Baltic, Alpine and Adriatic-Ionic regions. This political dynamic has led to a broad discussion about what the potentials, the added-value, and the future of these strategies can be.

Tobias Chilla and Franziska Sielker have been asked by the European Commission (DG Regio) and the Danube Strategy Point (DSP) to prepare an input paper for a workshop in order to launch the evaluation process of the Danube strategy. The paper has now been published on the DSP’s webpage and shows possible ways towards monitoring, measuring, and further developing the strategy.
